Tokyo-Hakone Ekiden

Tokai University just won the Hakone Ekiden, a long, grueling, relay marathon for university students in Japan. Tokai has participated for 46 years and this is the first time that Tokai has won.

The Hakone Ekiden is broadcast on Japanese TV and thousands line the route from Tokyo to Hakone. It is held on January 2 nd and 3 rd each year.

You may want to watch this exciting event live in Hakone or in Odawara. The runners usually run along Route 1 in Odawara.
